This template categorizes categories for {{catboiler}}.

There are three types of categories: "basic", "umbrella" and "fundamental". They are further explained at {{catboiler format}}.

  1. The "basic" categories may be categorized into multiple other categories by means of the values similar to |parent1 and |parentbyname1, as explained at {{catboiler helper}}.
  2. The "basic" categories (e.g. "English nouns", "French templates", "Portuguese sufixes") are also automatically categorized into the respective "umbrella" categories.
  3. The "umbrella" categories (e.g. "Nouns by language", "Templates by language", "Suffixes by language") are automatically categorized under the only fundamental category.
  4. Any "fundamental" category (e.g. "All parts of speech", "Templates", "All affixes") does not use any category boiler, per {{catboiler crashtest}}.

This template uses the common parameters for all meta-templates of catboiler: {{{temp}}}, {{{label}}}, {{{code}}}, {{{sc}}} and {{{c}}}. It also uses the values |parent1 and |parentbyname1 from the individual label. The parameters and labels are explained at {{catboiler}}.

If a {{{code}}} is given, it is a "basic" category; otherwise, it is an "umbrella" category.

The template {{catboiler format}} formats the types of category.
